Discover Community
The church is a gathering of people connected by a common experience and a common mission. It is a big body but made up of smaller parts. Community groups have three core elements: Organization, Relationship, and Discipleship.
Organization: In Exodus 18:16-21 we find the Jethro Principle. In this passage Jethro (Moses’ father-in-law) suggested to Moses that it was unhealthy for him to try to lead all the people and that he should break the people of Israel into small groups so that their needs could be better met.
Relationship: In Acts 2:43-47 we find the Acts Community. They worshipped together daily, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their possessions with each other as they had needs. We do community groups because they create an environment for authentic community as we intentionally share our lives with one another.
Discipleship: In 2 Timothy 2:2, the Apostle Paul encourages us by saying, You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Teach these great truths to trustworthy people who are able to pass them along to others. In community groups we are able to learn from each other and encourage one another in our journey with God.
